Scholarships and Awards

To apply for financial aid, students must submit a FAFSA, complete a Financial Aid Application and return to the Office of Financial Aid by April 30th (returning students), June 15th (new students) deadline for first priority. Scholarships will be awarded as funds permit. (See catalog, scholarship tab, or Fin. Aid Handbook for specific scholarship requirements).
 
This scholarship is awarded to students performing full time ministry on staff at a church.  This is a need based scholarship and requires that students take 12-18 hours per academic year.  Applicants must complete a FAFSA, the Care Ministry Form and the Seminary Financial Aid Application. This should be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid at the Seminary. Please send jdupree@ptseminary.edu Care Ministry bi-annual reports.  
 
Academic Scholarship (New student)
PTS provides an Academic Scholarship of $4,000 for incoming students with a 3.5 minimum undergraduate GPA.  Students must complete their FAFSA and Financial Aid Application by the June 15th deadline to be considered.  There are a limited number of these scholarships, early application is encouraged.
 
Academic Scholarship for First Year Students
Four academic scholarships of $4,000 per student are awarded to first year students who graduate that year from a Church of God college or university. The president of each institution makes recommendations for these scholarships by letter. A student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
 
Church of God Graduate Scholarship
Church of God Graduate Scholarship of $2,000 is granted to Church of God members graduating from a Church of God College or University, with a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Applicants must submit a Seminary Financial Aid Application and FAFSA to be considered.  June 15th is the deadline.
 
Spousal Tuition Scholarship
A spouse of a full-time (9 hrs or more) resident or extension student may apply for a 50% scholarship up to 6 hours per semester. The scholarship will be applied to spouse with lesser number of classes. Students must complete a FAFSA and Financial Aid Application.
 
Pentecostal Theological Seminary Graduate Alumni
Seminary graduate alumni are eligible for one free audit course per academic year in the resident or extension program.
 
College Seniors
College seniors may apply for a 100% scholarship toward their first resident or extension course taken at the Seminary while concurrently enrolled in their undergraduate college.
 
Endowed Scholarship
Endowed scholarship funds have been established at the Seminary by many contributors with the amount of the scholarship varying according to the size of the endowment and criteria set by the donor. Students applying must have submitted a FAFSA, completed the Financial Aid Application and returned all forms to the Office of Financial Aid at the Seminary by the set deadline.
 
Academic Scholarships for Second and Third Year Students
Four academic scholarships are awarded each year to returning students. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.7 in order to qualify. The amount available for any given student is $4,000 (scholarship) per year. Students applying must complete their FAFSA, Financial Aid Application and have 2 letters of recommendation from Pentecostal Theological Seminary professors. All of those documents must be sent to the Office of Financial Aid by the June 15th Deadline.
 
These ethnic HML loans are limited to $4,500 for loans per academic year and are awarded up to six PTS students. These are part of the Home Missions Loan program and must be repaid with service to the Church of God in an approved ministry area or paid back as a loan. (See guidelines of Home Missions Loan program.) Students applying must submit a FAFSA, complete a Financial Aid Application, Letter of Intent and a HML/ Minority Scholarship Contract by the deadline.
 
The Seminary sponsored loan is limited to $4,200 per academic year for ministerial student candidates who are willing to serve as pastor, associate pastor, church planter, or other approved position in the US for the Church of God. (See guidelines of Home Missions Loan program).
 
Doctor of Ministry Scholarships and Funding Options
The Doctorate of Ministry scholarships and/or loans (loans must have a current FAFSA submitted) requires the completion of a Doctor of Ministry Financial Aid Application.  Please complete and return to the Office of Financial Aid for processing.
 
Presidential Scholarship
One student is awarded a scholarship per academic year who will be a senior next year and who shows outstanding academic and spiritual progress. They are selected by the Seminary President to receive the scholarship which covers up to $5,000 of tuition costs. The student must also demonstrate leadership & spiritual maturity. Those applying must complete a FAFSA and a Financial Aid Application and submit them to the Office of Financial Aid before the deadline.
 
Mission America Pastor Fund
 A Pastor and/or spouse can receive sponsorship for their tuition.  This is not need-based fund. Their church may receive credit for World Missions sponsorship for monies designated to their pastor/spouse for training at the Seminary. Churches designate funds to Mission America Pastor's Fund WM Project #8000023 "Pentecostal Training" indicating the pastor/spouse's name. Contact jterpstra@ptseminary.edu for more information.
 
State Overseers
Full-time Overseers may apply for one free course per academic year.
  
New Incoming Student Scholarship
PTS has a New Incoming Student Scholarship of $2,500.  New students enrolled for the first time may apply.  Students meeting the criteria may apply by completing a FAFSA and Seminary Financial Aid Application by the June 15th deadline (see information above). This is a need based scholarship with a limited number of scholarships available.
 
Academic New Incoming Student Scholarship
We now offer Academic Scholarships of $4,000 for incoming students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their undergraduate degree.  Students meeting the criteria may apply by completing their FAFSA and Financial Aid Application by the June 15th deadline.
 
Veterans serving after 9-11 may apply for approval for the Yellow Ribbon Program by going to the GI Bill website.  Students may receive up to the maximum annual cap of $17,500 for private schools (based on eligibility percentage) according to VA regulations. Also, the seminary provides $3,000 per year with $3,000 matching funds from VA for those with 100% eligibility under the 911-bill.  Veterans with 100% eligibility may also apply for monthly housing and a book stipend, if approved by VA.  To apply, go to: www.gibill.va.gov.
